Freecity and Anglicare to Deliver Australia’s Tallest Seniors Living Community Opposite Crows Nest Metro

Freecity and Anglicare are pleased to announce a partnership that plans to deliver Australia’s tallest integrated seniors living community: a 41-storey development at 378 to 398 Pacific Highway, Crows Nest, directly opposite the new Crows Nest Metro Station.
Once approved, the landmark project will deliver approximately 173 Independent Living Units and 24 Residential Aged Care rooms to create a fully integrated community that supports ageing in place within a transport-connected, high-amenity setting.
The development will include a mix of two and three-bedroom independent living apartments, alongside residential aged care accommodation. Residents will be supported by shared wellness, rehabilitation and consulting spaces, communal dining, landscaped terraces and social areas designed to foster connection and independence.
Originally conceived as a build to sell development, the project has evolved after detailed market analysis identified sustained demand for well-located seniors living across the Lower North Shore. The opening of the Sydney Metro has transformed the accessibility of the area, creating a highly connected location where older residents can remain active and independent while maintaining direct access to the Sydney CBD and the North Shore.
The location provides immediate access to Royal North Shore Hospital and the broader St Leonards health precinct, while also benefiting from proximity to local parks, the Crows Nest village retail and dining precinct, community clubs including the nearby bowls club, and a range of everyday services within a highly walkable neighbourhood.
Lawrence Zheng, Co-Founder and Joint CEO of Freecity said: “Anglicare’s depth of experience in seniors living and care, together with the unique attributes of this site, created a partnership that was simply too strong to pass up.
Freecity was founded on the belief that innovation is essential to relieving housing pressure in Australia. Research increasingly shows that seniors want to remain in vibrant urban communities and delivering high-quality seniors living in well-located urban areas both meets demand but is also a critical part of freeing up broader housing supply.”
James Poulos, General Manager – Commercial & Strategy for Seniors Communities at Anglicare said: “Partnering with Freecity creates an opportunity to reimagine what ageing well can look like in a highly connected urban setting.
“Our focus is on creating a community where people can age gracefully in the place they call home, with access to enhanced services, future care pathways and a range of living options that provide greater certainty, support and choice.”
Michael Romano, Executive Director of Development at Freecity, said: “This project demonstrates how housing diversity can be embedded within major transport precincts.
“Seniors should have the opportunity to live in vibrant, connected locations close to transport, healthcare and their families. Together, we saw the opportunity to deliver a new model of seniors living within one of Sydney’s most connected precincts.”
Cox Architecture has been appointed to lead the design of the project, bringing a strong emphasis on accessibility, wellbeing and fostering meaningful community connection.
A development application is expected to be submitted towards the end of the year, with construction anticipated to commence in 2028 following approvals.
